CDTA Promotes Student Inclusion Not Exclusion

CDTA accepted its first class of students in 2012, focusing on a more logical, practical approach to legal education in the 21st Century. This focus emphasizes the same extensive educational platform as traditional law schools while considering the traditional deficiencies of today’s law school graduates. At CDTA, not only do we educate students, but we also train and develop them to be exceptional trial advocates.

A primary focus of the California Desert Trial Academy (CDTA) is the inclusion of all students in every phase and aspect of our learning platform and social environment. The competitiveness of law school can have a negative effect on some students, but some see it as survival of the fittest. The CDTA prefers to look at every interaction between students as a positive learning opportunity for all students.

The CDTA encourages students to work together rather than apart to achieve common goals whenever possible. In fact, we believe student collaboration and teamwork is an important component of achieving academic and professional goals. Whether a student group, extra-curricular activity, workshop, or social event, the CDTA welcomes every student with open arms.

We offer a unique environment conducive to a higher level and type of mutual support between our student body. CDTA students, faculty, staff, and (especially) alumni form long-term bonds that foster support, perseverance, and guidance not just now but in the future.

Discussions with legendary trial attorneys, F. Lee Bailey and Gerry Spence, inspired founders John Patrick Dolan and Irene Garcia Dolan to start the California Desert Trial Academy. In 2012, CDTA opened its doors featuring a more practical and modern approach to legal education. At CDTA, not only do we train, educate, and develop students to be exceptional attorneys, we also train them to be exceptional trial advocates.
