As the end of one of the strangest years in modern times approaches, the California Desert Trial Academy College of Law (CDTA) continues to operate close to normal. The CDTA is making a difference during the pandemic, helping its student body weather the storm and continue to move forward towards academic goals and ultimately becoming attorney-advocates.

The mission of the CDTA College of Law is to educate, train, and develop extraordinary legal advocates. This is done by educating students on bar-tested academic subjects, skills training, and values reinforcement. Upon completion of the 4-year course of study, students will be fully qualified to take and pass the California Bar examination.

CDTA graduates are fully trained to represent clients on the first day of practice with skills far beyond those learned by students at traditional law schools. The CDTA emphasizes soft skills, which include the analytical and interpersonal skills necessary to facilitate problem-solving.

The following skills are all points of academic focus in the CDTA curriculum. These skills are essential in helping graduates achieve immediate success as legal advocates.

  • Logical, clear, and concise writing skills,

 

Faculty and students continue to reap the benefits of the CDTA’s online learning platform, now in its ninth year of operation. CDTA uses Zoom’s cutting-edge technology to enable students to attend classes in real-time online. Students have the opportunity to interact with professors and their classmates, ask questions, and brief cases just as if they were attending class in-person. The CDTA’s has always focused on the use of technology that supports collaboration in learning. all classes are recorded, archived for the future, and made easily accessible to students.

California Desert Trial Academy welcomes students for admission with two-year or four-year undergraduate degrees or 60 transferable credits. CDTA students had a 65% pass rate on the First-Year Law Students’ Exam. The CDTA’s success rate is above the overall average for all registered, unaccredited fixed facility law schools.

Having implemented and utilized a state-of-the-art online learning platform for almost a decade, the CDTA has made distance learning a complete and advantageous aspect of its curriculum, thus improving the ability of working Californians to attend law school.
